💡 Game You’re Proud Of
Right now, I’m most proud of the energy and leadership I bring every time I step on the court. I’m the type of player who stays loud, positive, and locked in because I know my teammates feed off that. As a setter, I take a lot of pride in running the offense, building confidence in my hitters, and staying calm in pressure moments.
I’m also proud of how disciplined I’ve become. I don’t just rely on talent. I’ve been working outside of practice on strength, conditioning, and my mentality. I’ve been focused on being consistent, making smart decisions, and being the person my team can count on when the match gets tough. I’m grateful to be coached by leaders who trust me but also push me to evolve and think the game at a higher level. Their guidance has helped me grow not just as a player, but as a decision-maker on the court.
📲 Why This Post Mattered
Being featured on PrepDig CA means a lot to me because it feels like my work is being seen and it motivates me to keep going even harder. Volleyball is a sport where you have to earn everything, and getting recognized reminded me that the early mornings, long practices, and extra training really matter.
Social media has helped my recruiting journey because it lets me share my game, my growth, and who I am beyond just stats. Coaches can actually see how I play, how I lead, and how I compete. The motivation behind my posts is to represent my journey the right way, show my passion, my discipline, and my love for the game, and to keep putting myself out there as I work toward playing at the next level.
As a mixed athlete, being part Black is something I’m proud of, and I understand that representation in this sport matters. I want younger girls who look like me to see that they belong here too. That pushes me to work even harder and carry myself in a way that reflects both my culture and my commitment to this game.
🧠 What Coaches Should Know
I want college coaches to know that I’m a high-energy, disciplined teammate who is willing to do whatever it takes to get better. I bring passion and leadership every time I step on the court, but I also understand that leadership isn’t just being loud, it’s being accountable, steady, and someone your team can trust in big moments. As a setter, I take pride in reading the game, making smart decisions, and putting my hitters in the best position to succeed.
I’m very coachable and I genuinely want feedback. If I make a mistake, I own it, adjust, and move forward. I don’t get stuck, I focus on solutions. I hold myself to a high standard in everything I do. I currently maintain a 4.0 GPA while balancing club volleyball, travel, strength training, and school responsibilities. Managing all of that has taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay focused when things get busy. I try to lead by example in the classroom the same way I do on the court, encouraging my teammates to stay accountable and handle their responsibilities.
Off the court, my faith is a huge part of who I am. It keeps me grounded and focused, especially when I’m challenged. I took a big leap of faith leaving a club I had been with for years to start a new path with a new club, even though it meant more sacrifice and travel. I did that because I want to grow, and I’m committed to making these next years count. I’m hungry, coachable, and ready to earn my spot.

Nevaeh played setter for most of her time at the showcase, but she also got a chance to take some right-side reps, showcasing her versatility. She racked up a few blocks, masterfully turning the ball back into the court instead of getting tooled. Whenever short balls dropped in the middle or off the block, she was consistently there to help her teammates, diving when necessary to keep the play alive. A setter who can hit is a dual threat, and she definitely didn’t go unnoticed. The talented freshman earned a well-deserved top performer award at the showcase. –Kantessa @lasvegasvbanalyst @prepdignv

My dream has always been to be a collegiate athlete. I chose to attend the Oregon Ducks Setter Camp because I’ve always been a fan of the team, which runs a really fast offense. To be the best, you have to train with the best. My goal was to pick up skills to help speed up my game, and I received that and so much more.
The camp was exceptionally well-organized. We worked in small groups, making it easy to follow the techniques they were teaching. There were plenty of opportunities for reps, which is the best way I learn. On Day 1, Oregon’s Head Coach Matt Ulmer demonstrated hand techniques. Cristin Cline, the team’s setter, led most of the setting drills. It was helpful when staff corrected us during drills to ensure we were using proper techniques.
Working with Oregon’s QB Cristin Cline was incredible. I picked up valuable tips on side setting, one-hand dumps, and setter defense that I’ll continue to work on. Meeting Coach Ulmer and working with his team of athletes was awesome. If I had to pick my favorite part of the camp, it would definitely be playing queens with Cristin and Coach Jerry. Touring the University of Oregon’s campus was also exciting—their track and field facilities were impressive, and being inside the Matthew Knight Arena gave me goosebumps.
My advice for other players is to figure out which schools you’re interested in attending. If you follow a team or certain players who inspire you, attend their camp. Going to Oregon’s camp was personal for me because I hope to play there someday.
Coach Ulmer gave us his email, and I intend to use it. My goal is to do everything I can to become the best volleyball player I can be. While working towards that goal, I plan to share my journey with him. As for the players, we exchanged emails and social media handles. Provided to Michelle Bamford @ PrepDig
