About Olivia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

The best parts of my game right now are that I am fast, communicate loudly and effectively, and have good all-around skills. I would like to be known as an effective all-around setter and player, who is quick and athletic, can block and hit, and whose defense is excellent.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very passionate about volleyball. In order to be an effective setter, I must be a great leader and teammate and have a high volleyball IQ. So, I try to be my best in all of those areas! My priorities include my family, faith, academics, volleyball and friends. I am very energetic and love celebrating great plays!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In middle school, I received academic awards each quarter for getting all As, along with a few other related awards and NJHS. I have been invited to the Academic Awards ceremony, which is scheduled in December, for getting all A's last year (9th grade).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a singer in the church band, I help lead worship and have become comfortable being a leader. In high school, I am involved in Student Council. With school starting early, taking Advanced and AP classes and having late night VB practices, I have improved in time management--finding time to rest while making time to practice, attend athletic performance training, church group and get good grades.

What type of college are you looking for?

My ideal school would have a culture of both academics and athletics success. I would like to attend a college where I could play volleyball and enjoy a fun campus life!

Miss Girdzus is currently an unranked prospect in the 2028 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings.  She plays for McKinney North High School and also plays for the 1United volleyball club.  One aspect that really stood out about Olivia when I watched her was how solid her posture was when she contacted the ball as a setter.  This allows her to really not have any “tells” for the defense to pick up on. Her height in the position allows her to stay in the front row or hit right side if need be.  She had a nice soft touch on the ball and it allowed her to set her middles very consistently.  When we were watching her footwork, I liked that she was able to beat to ball to the net because this will really allow her to run her middles during defensive transition and that is one thing that will keep her team very aggressive.  We are going to keep our eye on her during the club season and you should as well.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award at this showcase.
