About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a consistent and reliable setter who works hard to give my hitters the best chances to score. I try to make smart decisions and mix up my sets to keep the other team guessing. I’m super competitive and always do whatever I can to help my team—whether that’s diving for a ball, making quick changes during the game, or just bringing positive energy.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m really competitive and do my best when the game’s on the line. I try to stay positive, shake off mistakes, and focus on the next play. No matter what’s happening, I always bring energy, work hard, and put the team first.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m currently a freshman with a 4.0 GPA. I’m taking all honors/pre-AP classes and I’m involved in ASB.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Sports have helped me develop strong leadership and teamwork skills. I've been a team captain for four years and believe in leading by example. Joining ASB pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow as a leader through communication and school involvement.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been balancing both volleyball and soccer as a dual-sport athlete. It’s taught me how to manage my time, stay organized, and stay committed to both teams while keeping my academics a top priority.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm still exploring my college options, but I know academics will be my top priority. At the same time, I’m committed to playing volleyball at the highest level I can, especially as a setter, and I’m looking for a school that will challenge me both academically and on the court.

No pass was too difficult for her to handle. She did a great job turning out-of-system balls into playable opportunities and was reliable in coverage, supporting her hitters and staying engaged through every phase of the rally. A steady, composed presence who made a difference on every touch.
