About Rhyen

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m an intense player that likes fast paced games with a high volleyball IQ. I’m scrappy and will work hard for my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m often the loudest player on the floor, from calling for the ball to cheering on the sidelines for my teammates. You’re going to know I’m there! I give 100% when I step on the court, every time. I don’t let mistakes stop me from playing my hardest. When I make a mistake I tell myself that the next play will be the best I’ve had all game/practice because I’m going to fix the error.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am Class Secretary, Vice President of Rotary Interact Club, a RYLA graduate, and was awarded the female Algebra I award and a top athlete-scholar award. I will also be attending the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference this summer.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’m a confident leader, something that Volleyball has brought out in me. My first season playing club my teammates chose me as captain and feel that responsibility and take it seriously, even if it can be challenging at times.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Throughout my volleyball journey I have been placed as a middle, due to height and my ability to read the net. However, I love being a pin hitter and love playing back row, but rarely get the opportunity to play either, which can be challenging mentally especially when I know I need to be able to play anywhere to play in college. However, I am willing to work at any position and will earn my time.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play at a college where there’s passion for the game as big as mine and one that sees my drive and potential and will give me the opportunity to make them shine. I just want to keep improving. I play for my program and for my team. Academics are important, but I’m a driven student and keeping up will never be a problem for me.
