💡 “Having a young team and being one of only three seniors graduating, I’ve taken the privilege of being a leader on and off the court. In addition to practice during the week, the team and I work with my high school coach during private lessons on Saturdays at CSU Pomona and one-on-one lessons on Sundays at Forza1 North. I show leadership with my preparation and the extra work that translates to the volleyball court. I’ve worked on my weaknesses and expanded my game as a setter — doing more backsets and staying an offensive threat with more accurate sets and setter dumps. I lead by example always.”

She relies on positive reinforcement, active communication, and consistent use of teammates’ names to build connection and trust.

In high-pressure moments, Rhys focuses on what she can control. With a calm routine, deep breathing, and attention to detail, she stays composed and delivers when it matters. “Doing this has helped me win games by an ace or an accurate set to a playmaker,” she said.

Coaches describe Rhys as competitive, adaptable, and highly communicative. She brings a strong family atmosphere to team culture, getting to know each player and supporting them on and off the court.
