Rory Corrales plays all over the court, and she sees that versatility as her biggest value to a team. At the SoCal Freshman Showcase, she was named a Top Performing Right Side after consistently attacking deep and challenging defenses with smart shot selection. “What I love about being a setter who can hit and play multiple positions is that I’m a reliable player,” she said. “If someone on my team is sick, absent or injured I can play anywhere my coach needs me to.”
For Rancho Valley VBC, her team is counting on her to set and play outside hitter, adding a fourth position to a résumé that already includes opposite and middle. She said playing all of them keeps her sharp: “Playing all three positions really helps me be more active and aware on the court because I know so many positions and rotations it helps me stay focused when in the game.” That is volleyball IQ built from experience in every spot.
Before her freshman season, she said she was the only freshman on her varsity roster, and she has been a captain on several of her teams. In college, she wants a program built on education, teamwork, and a culture where players push each other.

is the only freshman to make the varsity team at Loma Linda Academy, and she calls that opportunity incredible, knowing how much she’ll learn just from watching and playing alongside older teammates every day. Her confidence and consistency are what she wants a coach to notice first, along with the calm she brings to her team in high-pressure situations, backed by a coachability she takes real pride in. A piece of advice, play your game even when you’re not 100 percent, reshaped how she handles an off night, teaching her that the best players don’t let a rough moment define how they compete. Corrales’s goal this season is to grow alongside her varsity teammates while contributing wherever her team needs her, and she’s picturing a college program down the road built on education, teamwork, and a positive culture. As a multi-team captain in her past, she leads by bringing people together and reminding teammates they can count on her, especially when the score isn’t in their favor. She wanted to be part of the Freshman Showcase to grow as a player, gain feedback from experienced coaches, and start building connections toward her goal of playing college volleyball.
