Beyond the fact that Brubaker leads the state in blocks entering October by a wide margin is the senior’s overall development as a volleyball player. Brubaker is athletic and agile for a 6-foot-8 presence in the middle of the net. It’s come together over the years to where she consistently impacts matches at a high level. The Marquette commitment has long been an obstacle as a defender. Her timing and technique have improved over time. The biggest strides have been made on the attack. Brubaker ends points with authority and mixes up her swings to take advantage of what the defense presents.

Brubaker moved up eight spots to No. 9 in the latest Prep Dig Iowa Class of 2027 rankings update. The 6-foot-8 presence in the middle of the net helped Grundy Center reach the Class 2A state semifinals last season and then stood out for a CIA outfit that advanced to the USAV National Tournament this summer in Indianapolis. As mentioned, Brubaker is an intimidator on the court. Her height and long arms cover a lot of real estate and make the opposing attack question its approach. Where the Marquette commitment has shown the most growth in the last year has been in the way she ends points. Brubaker has quickened her operation and added explosiveness into a heavy swing. She will be a nightmare for teams on the Spartan schedule in 2026.

Yes, she is 6’8 or maybe 6’7 (insert 67 joke lolololol).  I was able to see her play live this past fall at the Iowa State tournament where her Grundy Center squad made it to the final four.  She had the match winning kill to complete the reverse sweep in the quarterfinals.  Her presence is dangerous in the front row, she knows how to throw, swing, and find a deep corner offensively.  Defensively, she makes the attackers think twice.  Her future at the next level could be on the right side as well. She has the size and the skill, but she also plays with so much passion and is so happy to celebrate with her teammates. 

It’s hard to miss Brubaker when scanning the court. The 6-foot-8 junior casts a large shadow. In scouting Brubaker on the club circuit, there’s plenty of athleticism and agility packed into this prospect. She brings a lot more to the table than being tall. Brubaker has taken her game up a notch since the spring. She’d produced 264 kills through her team’s first 30 matches, hitting an incredibly efficient .466. Her 85.0 blocks were among the most in the state, regardless of class. An imposing figure in the middle of the net already, Brubaker has plenty of room to go before reaching her potential. She can improve her skills and is working hard to do so. Brubaker’s ceiling is among the highest in the state.
