Sahej Ahluwalia played up this season, competing as a six rotation setter who added real hitting ability to her game for the first time, and that expanded role has made her more vocal as a leader on both sides of the ball. This was her second year at this UA Next camp, and the difference showed. She felt more comfortable with the pace and more confident in her own skills, which freed her up to notice exactly where she still needs to grow instead of just trying to survive the speed of play.
Her proudest moment had nothing to do with a kill or a set. It came when a coach recognized her for showing up to both middle school camp sessions in a single day, telling her that those who want more and do more will ultimately get more. That kind of acknowledgment matters to an athlete who already treats extra reps as the standard rather than the exception. Heading into her final middle school season, she’s working to sharpen her speed, her accuracy, and the adjustments that come with hitting as a lefty, continuing to build a game with very few holes in it.

Sahej K Ahluwalia made her decision with a clear sense of what she needs right now. Rather than chase a new environment, she is choosing to remain with A4 Volley, a program that keeps her playing up against older, more experienced competition under a coach with a championship résumé.
That choice reflects where she is in her development. As a 2031 setter, Sahej is not focused on this season in isolation. She is building toward becoming a 6R setter, and staying immersed in a system that challenges her against bigger, faster, more advanced players is part of that long-term plan. Continuity, in her case, is the aggressive choice.

‘s reflection revealed a young setter already thinking about development with long-term perspective.
Instead of focusing only on immediate results, she talked extensively about footwork, handwork, fundamentals, and building a strong foundation layer by layer over time. That patient approach seems central to how she trains with CPA and how she views growth overall.
One of the biggest takeaways from the event for Sahej was the opportunity to compete alongside older athletes and realize she belonged in that environment. Setting strong pins and middles, contributing defensively, and advancing into the top setter challenge group all reinforced confidence she is continuing to build in her game.
Even without winning an award, her reflection still carried a lot of belief in where her development is heading.
I know I am on the right track.
This summer continues building on that process through UA Next, college camps, beach training, strength work, and additional opportunities to train in Canada with a national championship coach.
Away from volleyball, Sahej described herself as someone deeply committed to building the right foundation as both a student and athlete while staying humble enough to continue learning through every stage of the journey.

, a setter and right-side from Vista Verde, brought balance and composure to the SoCal UpNext Showcase. She spoke about her focus on improving setter defense, explaining that one of her coaches taught her to be “patient and calculated yet nimble like a spider,” and she worked to apply that mindset in live play. The event gave her the opportunity to compete alongside new teammates, learn from different coaches, and add layers to her offensive creativity.
Her goal going into the season was to develop into a more deceptive and versatile setter, building on her experience of playing both front and back row. Sahej described herself as “a competitive and calm leader” who cheers on her teammates, and that presence came through in her play. Off the court she revealed a fun side, sharing that she sings, plays multiple instruments, and proudly supports her hometown Kansas City Chiefs. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247

Sahej is an all-around skilled player and a high-level lefty setter with a heavy arm swing. She was steady and reliable throughout the showcase, bringing both consistency and power. When attacking, she comes down hard on the ball, making her tough to defend. Her athleticism stood out, and she proved to be a true difference-maker on the court. — Kantessa Bryant-Miller @prepdignv
