About Samantha

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My volleyball gameplay style is characterized by being a skilled setter who excels at reading the game and delivering precise sets to create scoring opportunities. Also excels at defense with my diving skills and ability for reading the attacker.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

my mentality on the court is fierce and positive. I strive to be part of every play and welcome the opportunity to dig that hit or set a perfect ball for my hitters to attack. I create a positive and inclusive vibe for all of my teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play tennis, being awarded MVP the past 2 seasons as well as hardest worker last season. I am in art club and student council at school and teach Bible School each summer at my church. I was recently voted player of the week by my volleyball club which is voted on by coaches and chosen amongst 8 teams.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I am in student council for my school, and I have enjoyed learning not only how to give back, but how much it truly changes people’s lives. I always thought being a leader was showing what should be done, but I learned during school volleyball when I was chosen to be a captain, that being a leader also means getting people’s trust and being there for support whenever it’s needed.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

During school season, I was faced with being chosen as a captain with a coach that my teammates felt put down by and it was hard to step up and be a captain for my teammates while also trying to keep a team-like relationship throughout everyone. I struggled with trying to keep a professional coach-athlete relationship while also being a good captain for my team.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to attend a college that has my preferred field of study, has a sense of belonging and pushes me to excel as a student and athlete to prepare for successful life after college.
