She was always on time to close the block, put her hands across the net, and eliminate quality attack angles. What I kept noticing was how quickly she moved after she blocked responsibility. She came off the net, reset her approach, and stayed available on first-tempo swings, making opposing middles account for her on every rally. She is getting off the floor quicker, running cleaner tempo, and staying available in transition. At the net, she is closing space instead of reacting late, which is starting to take away angles. Middles who can be active in transition and disciplined with their block start to control the flow, and Ellery is moving in that direction.
