About Sammie
Expert Analysis
Michael DeLeon | Prep Dig Scout
Sammie, a Class of 2029 libero from Vista del Lago High School in Folsom and OMNI Volleyball Club, is a back row competitor whose instincts and processing speed immediately stand out when you watch her navigate a competitive setting. Miss Campbell reads the court well ahead of contact and positions herself before most players her age have even finished tracking the serve, which is the single quality that separates reactive liberos from ones who actually control the back row. Her platform mechanics stay disciplined under pressure and she delivers passes with the kind of accuracy that keeps an offense running cleanly rather than forcing setters to work out of system on a regular basis. There is a toughness to how she plays defensively that goes beyond physical range because she competes for every single ball and does not concede rallies that are still winnable. For a 2029, the level of position-specific polish she plays with is genuinely ahead of schedule and that tells you the work being put in away from the gym is real. Sammie is a prospect worth putting on the board early before her class becomes a crowded conversation. Please help us congratulate her on earning Top Performer honors at this showcase event.

‘s development is rooted in leadership presence and standard-setting. She describes herself as consistently modeling effort on and off the court, and her impact shows up in tone control for her team. As a libero, her communication and reset ability are central to maintaining defensive stability.
Her awareness of how she handles mistakes is particularly notable. She emphasizes her ability to reset quickly and maintain a steady attitude after errors. For a back-row defender, emotional regulation often determines defensive consistency, and Sammie speaks directly to that responsibility.
She is currently focused on improving speed and agility, training with weighted mile runs before school to increase movement efficiency. The accountability is specific and repeatable. She understands that range and quickness expand defensive coverage and extend rallies, and she is building that foundation deliberately.
When asked what she wants coaches to see beyond the stat sheet, she responded:
I would want them to see how I handle mistakes. I pride myself on my attitude and my ability to reset when I make an error.
That quote centers on composure. She defines her value through response rather than perfection, which is a mature framework for a defensive specialist.
Off the court, Sammie maintains a 4.00 GPA and participates in a class called Sunshine Friends, where she works alongside neurodivergent students. She speaks about patience, encouragement, and creating a positive environment. The consistency between her classroom leadership and her on-court demeanor reinforces authenticity in her character.

Sammie embraced her role as a situational game-changer, coming off the bench in high-pressure moments and delivering when her team needed it most. She recorded key aces and strong serve receive passes in tight sets, approaching her role with the mindset that impact isn’t defined by minutes played, but by readiness and execution. Looking ahead, she’s focused on improving her ability to read the game, recognizing setter dumps, tips, and serve patterns to elevate her defensive awareness. Off the court, Sammie recently earned a 4.0 GPA in her first semester of high school, reflecting the same discipline she brings to the court.
Sammie will compete next at the NCVA Power League Qualifier on January 24–25.

stood out with her discipline and preparation. Her team, Omni 14 National, leaned into extra positional training, film study, and accountability as part of their build-up. “We didn’t rise to the occasion, we fell back on our training,” she said. That consistency carried them all the way to the Freedom Division final. One of her most meaningful moments came when an opposing player told her, “You played so well.” For Sammie, that kind of respect validated the work she’s put in. “Coming up one match short only makes me hungrier for more.”
Sammie credits much of her growth to her support system: “I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my coaches. Coach Devin Elmore believed in us from day one and gave me the best advice to help me improve. Coach Hannah Platt was always there to support me and guided us with her experience as a collegiate athlete. And I’ll forever be grateful for my teammates, we truly brought out the best in each other.”

doesn’t just play the game…she leads it. What she loves most about volleyball is how it pushes her mentally, and how it challenges her to show up as a better version of herself, both on and off the court. She’s a natural leader with a gift for lifting up her teammates and setting the tone in high-pressure situations.
Sammie’s current focus is speeding up her reaction time and improving how she reads hitters to elevate her team’s ability to transition. Sammie’s favorite memory came during school season, when she led her team to a playoff upset over a squad stacked with club talent. She’s a 4.0 student with dreams of getting into real estate after college, and when she’s not balling out, you’ll find her lakeside with her family and her dog. Her freshman goal? Make varsity, lead by example, and leave no doubt she belongs on that court.
