Her shot distribution showed intentionality, varying angles and attack zones to avoid becoming predictable. With college coaches sitting courtside, she did not retreat from the moment. Instead, her focus sharpened. She maintained emotional presence, kept teammates engaged, and influenced energy during key scoring runs.

Her next layer of development centers on spacing off the net. Coaching feedback emphasized creating more separation to prevent blocks from lining her up when she drifts too tight. She is working to combine her existing shot variety with improved footwork patterns to increase efficiency and repeatability. Off the court, Slaughter invests in mindset training to manage upcoming recruiting decisions, maintains a 4.0 GPA including AP Computer Science, and volunteers at the Marine Mammal Center in Marin County.

Sasha Slaughter Sasha Slaughter 6'2" | MB/RS Berkeley | 2028 State CA , a 2028 middle from Absolute 16 Black, used her time at NTDP to elevate a part of her game that often takes a back seat during the club season: serving. “NTDP trains us to prepare for international play and competition, and they emphasize middles learning serving techniques and serve receive,” she said. “I focused on different types of serves like hybrids and droppers, and this will help me work on becoming a serving middle both in my upcoming high school season and club season in the spring.”

The pillar of Craft had the biggest impact on Sasha, giving her the opportunity to refine skills not usually prioritized for her position. “One example of a skill that I gained confidence in is hybrid serving, which I’ve rarely done before, but now it is in my toolbox. I learned by using the hybrid serve, it can catch the other team off guard because they don’t practice receiving it,” she explained.

Among her peers, Camble Booth stood out as a source of inspiration. “Camble was super supportive to everyone there, took on a leadership role during our game play on the final day, and she was the sweetest person ever,” Sasha said. “When we were competing, she would make sure to be the biggest cheerleader for all of us, reassure us during mistakes, and her knowledge of the game made her a great leader. She inspired me to be a better communicator with teammates and become a more vocal player.”

Coach Christa Branson from SMU made the biggest impression on Sasha. “She helped me achieve a consistent toss and gave me key pointers for my serves,” Sasha shared. “She also made an effort to get to know me and the other girls better, which always feels good.”

Absolute 15 Black, featuring Sasha Slaughter Sasha Slaughter 6'2" | MB/RS Berkeley | 2028 State CA , is scheduled to face TAV 15 Black Jason on June 26 at 9:00 AM on Court 49.

Please officially welcome Slaughter to the State Rankings.  She is currently ranked as the 8^th best overall player according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings.  She plays for Berkeley High School and also for the Absolute volleyball club program.  Miss Slaughter has been showing off her athleticism in every match we have watched this season.  I love how versatile she is when running routes from both serve receive and out of defensive transition.  What helps her excel the most is how fast she moves all around the court.  Her heels hardly ever touch the floor when she plays and this keeps her so bouncy and quick.  You can see her speed in every play as she does not take any time off and pushes with her high motor.  It does not matter what happens on the court, she will be able to always catch up to the speed of the pass or dig and be on time for quick attacks from her setter.  In terms of above the net, this youngster is a “can’t miss” recruit who will only get stronger and better in her position.  Armed with quickness, strength and superb athleticism, I strongly encourage scouts to keep her name on your short list of athletes to watch.  Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot in our prestigious State Rankings.

She plans to make the most of this opportunity by absorbing top-level coaching, connecting with players who share her goal of competing at the Division I level, and challenging herself alongside athletes who have the same drive and aspirations. Representing Northern California — and the Bay Area — on a national stage is a huge honor for Sasha, who feels proud and humbled to see her hard work paying off at this point in her journey. She’s especially looking forward to traveling to Florida, training at IMG Academy, and meeting coaches and players from across the country while forming new friendships.

When asked who she would bring with her, Sasha said it was a tough choice because so many teammates and opponents deserve the opportunity. Sasha praises Amara for her powerful swing, rapid progress, and high ceiling, and she admires Carolina for her exceptional volleyball IQ, precise shot placement, and inspirational leadership as a team captain.
