💡 How would you describe your role on the court, and what do you do to elevate the players around you?
My role on the court is incredibly important. I’m in charge of the back row and everything that happens defensively. I’m known as the best passer on my team and one of the most aggressive. I elevate my teammates by bringing high energy and constantly hyping them up when they make great plays. I try to keep the energy positive so it rubs off on everyone and helps us all compete at the highest level.
🧠 In high-pressure moments, what’s your mindset and how do you stay composed?
I always remind myself to keep a strong mindset. That helps me stay focused and play my game. I also try to have fun in those moments because it takes away the anxiety. I like proving myself wrong by doing something amazing to shift momentum and get my team hyped. I want my teammates to feel less stress and more joy in those big moments.
💪🏽 What’s something specific you’ve been working to add to your game this season, and why?
I’ve been working on living by the mindset “Just Go.” It’s a phrase that really matters to me as a libero. I’ve seen elite liberos embrace that mentality, and it pushes me to get uncomfortable and reach for more. It helps me compete harder, react faster, and challenge myself to keep growing.
🌟 Off the court, how would your coaches and teammates describe you, and what personal qualities do you bring to a team culture?
They would probably describe me as energetic and supportive. I love having fun and bringing positive energy to the team even off the court. If my teammates ever need help or advice, I’m always there to support them and offer what I can.
💥 What’s a fun fact about you that you’d want college coaches to know?
As a pretty short libero, I constantly push my limits and get creative with how I go after balls. I love proving that size doesn’t define effort.

Sera has already made a name for herself both indoors and on the sand. She is a quick libero who covers the court with tenacity. What I like most about watching her play is her ability to read the ball on defense. She consistently picks the right defensive lane, making her job look easy. Sera is a talkative libero who works to keep her team’s volleyball IQ at its highest level. She has great hands when taking the second ball and works hard on the court. Sera is on her way to becoming one of the top liberos in her class. – Michelle Bamford @ PrepDig

“Sera was amazing!! An extremely hard worker, supportive, has a great read on the ball, and was not afraid to get hit against the big hitters! Defense is an attitude and takes a lot of grit. Sera did an outstanding job displaying her grit and willingness to go for anything. She has a bright future ahead of her! ” Wendy Garcia-Milo

My name is Seraphine Rodriguez, but people call me Sera. I am class of 2028 and 14 years old. I am 5’4” tall and have been playing volleyball for 4 years. I am going to be attending Mater Dei High School. I play for Forza1 North volleyball club and on the 14-one’s team. My position is Libero/Ds, but prefer to play Libero. I started playing volleyball, because my older sister made me join one of her practices, which sparked a flame for my volleyball career. One practice is all it took- I fell in love with it!
An inspirational quote I follow in volleyball is, “I’m not the most talented. I’m not the tallest. I’m not the biggest, but I work the hardest” Kobe Bryant. I practice 4-5 times a week 3-4 hours a day. It gives me confidence to go for everything, no matter how hard it may SEEM, and makes me very persistent as a defensive player. It makes me want to go for every ball, because if I don’t, then who knows if I could have gotten it up. You miss 100% of shots if you don’t try! I will be competing in the Farwestern National Qualifier in Reno, Nevada in April in open division. I am also competing in all local SCVA tournaments in Southern California. Please follow me on instagram @sera_77libero and thank you for this opportunity.
