Sophomore Serenity Welcher Serenity Welcher DS/L Georgia Christian | 2029 GA has already rewritten part of Davidson Fine Arts’ record book. The school lists her at 458 digs and 355 serve receptions this season, both school single-season records. At 5-foot-3, Serenity’s game has to be built on anticipation and movement. She doesn’t have extra reach to compensate for a late read, so getting her feet behind the ball and controlling her platform becomes even more important. Her defensive volume suggests Davidson trusts her with a lot of space.

What adds personality to her game is the serving pressure. That’s a nice shift in mentality: spend one rotation absorbing attacks, then walk behind the line and become the player forcing somebody else to pass.
