About Sophia
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
On the court, one must be a beast. One must find the drive within them because its not just the effort they put into practice and training, showing up and communicating consistently. One must be aggressive, powerful, but controlled and calm, being smart in each of their actions and how one executes each play. I am eager to improve through feedback and criticism, and am always ready to adjust.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
When I step on the court, everything else; school, friends, family essentially disappears, and my focus is only on the game. I find each way I can to improve myself as an athlete mentally and physically. How you practice, is how you play. The major point of volleyball is that it is a team sport; YOU can not win every point, YOU can not win a game, YOU can not win a championship-but a team can.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am part of the National Charity League of Los Angeles, and this program has further exposed me to leadership principals. It has also shown me a sense of community through acts of helping one another and being part of something bigger where each member provides unique value.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I have developed the quality of leadership through my club team, encouraging my teammates but also holding each other accountable. Through the six years with my club, I have had ups and downs both as a player and as a team. Each chapter has taught me how to be patient, persevere, and how to rally as a team when things get rough.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
In 2025, we lost our home in the Pacific Palisades fires. This challenge felt like a punch in the gut that altered my life forever. I had lost everything, and was forced to start over. Yet, me and my family overcame this obstacle through the help of God and our love for one another. This experience improved my ability to wipe the slate clean, and reset, this is what I try to bring to the court.
What type of college are you looking for?
I love volleyball, and the purpose of college is to find and become who you want to be and embrace the best version of yourself. Besides a strong volleyball team and coaching, I am looking for a college that will provide a community on and off the court, with a range of academic opportunities around business leadership and entrepreneurship that will inspire me to find the right path for my life.
