About Amelia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I like to run a fast, and creative offense with lots of energy and constantly communicating with my hitters to assist them getting scores on the board. I ensure that my biggest focuses when playing are making the best decisions for the team, giving my hitters the best possible ball to work with, and hyping my team up. I stay composed in tense situations and help my team do the same.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a team-first player who brings positive energy and steady communication to the court. I stay composed in high-pressure moments, and do what I can to keep the team connected, and focus on helping everyone feel supported and confident to compete at our best in whatever situation.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am humbled to be apart of the 2025 Australian Junior Performance Program and Squad for 18U and currently blessed to be in the USA and playing at Oaks Christian School and Sports Academy Club in California in 2025. 2025 Australian squad announcement here: https://volleyball.org.au/blog/2025-junior-national-indoor-squads-announced/

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed strong leadership skills through volleyball, learning how to communicate effectively, stay calm under pressure and support the people that surround me. The sport has motivated me to build a solid work ethic and resilience, balancing practice, school, and adjusting to challenges along the way. I have grown more confident in speaking up, and contributing to a positive environment.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In 2023, I faced a broken ankle and knee dislocation which kept me out of the sport for 7 months. More recently, I relocated from Australia to the U.S, having to adjust to a new school, team, and social environment. Both experiences pushed me out of my comfort zone, but grew me in ways like independence, adaptability, and resilience to stay motivated through uncomfortable situations.
