About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I consider myself to be an aggressive middle blocker. I’m all about defense at the net, timing my jumps and hands to shut down opposing hitters. My job is to make it difficult for the other team to score with their attacks. I also focus on offensive plays, bringing power to the net with hard, fast attacks. My goal is to put pressure on the opposing team by delivering high-impact spikes.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

As a middle I am focused, alert, confident and resilient. Let’s not forget team oriented, as for my personality I’m adaptive and calm under pressure.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I am part of SGA. I am a member of the class of 2027 class board and helped raise over 1300 for my class prom. I’ve received AB honor roll awards since elementary school

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

During intense matches, I often find myself helping to keep the team's energy high, reminding everyone to stay focused. I’ve participated in coaching clinics for younger players during tournaments. My experiences in volleyball have allowed me to develop leadership, teamwork, and community service skills. I’ve learned to lead with confidence, collaborate effectively with teammates.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The most significant challenge for me so far has been balancing sports and keeping up with my AP level classes.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school that would have an excellent architecture program.

Another one of my favorites I’ve always got an eye on, Sophia is playing up on Paramount 18s this season. She’s a hard worker, and has a ton of talent. I’ve talked with a few college coaches about her already this season, she’s definitely getting attention. She’s been helping Paramount make some noise at 18s already this year and not just with her cannon-like shot.

She’s also a great kid, seems to get along with everyone whenever I see her play and is a good teammate. I’m looking forward to seeing which school scoops her up, because it’s becoming a race at this point, and someone is going to gain a force of nature that other teams will be kicking themselves for for 4 years.
