Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I am highly motivated to do the best that I can. I strongly believe in encouraging my teammates. I have a positive attitude and go for every ball. I can lock in and reset very quickly. I believe that I have the strong volleyball skills but also a strong mental game.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I can reset very quickly. If I have an error, I can shake it off and get ready for the next play.
I am a leader on the court. I try to keep everyone focused and positive even when the match isn’t going our way. I get very excited and high five my teammates when a great play happens.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am a part of the medical club and Spanish club at Fenwick.
I am also part of the Future Philanthropists Program which is a two year leadership program that works with philanthropy. As a junior, I work with local non-profits and help decide how funds are distributed based on their needs. As a senior, I will raise the funds through donor asks and fundraisers, such as a 5K.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
This past summer I participated in the Appalachia Service project for one week where I was able to help rehab homes for one week for the impoverished residents.
Being a Bolivian American, I was able to travel to Cochabamba, Bolivia for one week where I volunteered at a center for children whose parents are incarcerated. I was able to tutor the children in math and reading and play volleyball.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
When I was younger I used to play softball. And at the state playoffs half of the team had to go to a travel tournament so I was chosen to pitch. I hadn’t pitched in a couple of years but I rose to the challenge and did my best. We didn’t win but I was proud of myself for stepping up for my team.
What type of college are you looking for?
Small, medium sized schools with a strong liberal arts program.
