Everything just makes sense here with Lynney Tarnow heading to Wisconsin. Wisconsin has the track record of producing some of the top middles in the country and with Tarnow down the road in Chicago from 1st Alliance it could be a promising combination. Wisconsin will be graduating middles Alicia Andrew and Carter Booth where the door is wide open for a new Badger to step up. Tarnow has all the physical tools to be an immediate impact in the Big Ten.

This girl is a force at the net. Great size and a great contact point when she hits the ball for her kills. She also moves very well with being able to hit slides and get over quickly for blocks. She is explosive at the net. Generally one of the tallest girls on the court as well, which certainly doesn’t hurt. Size mixed along with skill, she is a problem when steps onto the court.

Tarnow and her team 1st Alliance 17 Gold out of Illinois ended the event in ninth place with six wins and two losses. Probably the tallest player in the entire event, she was a force for them at the net. Tarnow’s swings were very difficult to stop because of how high her contact point was and she also showed impressive footwork for a player of her size, hitting the slide set very smoothly. The middle also appeared well with her big, structured blocking and was extremely successful in 50-50 balls at the net.

came into her prep career with plenty of promise and expectations and she is living up to everything and then some. She is one of the top middle blockers in the country where at 6’5, athletic, and really physical she just changes the game. Even out of system, her 1st Alliance 16 Gold team found ways to get her the ball to score. On defense, the opposing attackers always have to know where she is. She has a great savvy for the game where she has great footwork and hand placement where if she gets a touch, it’s most likely landing on the other side of the floor. She is part of a talented 2026 recruiting class that also features upstart middle blocker

It is hard to talk about powerhouse middles without talking about Carolyn. She is one of the best in the country and takes on a heavy offensive load for her team. She even takes swings on out-of-system balls, which are incredibly tough to execute from the middle. Carolyn has a huge impact as a blocker and on offense. She is one of the top recruits in the country.

Tarnow’s game out of the middle has been evolving over the past year. She has always had the length and height, but her athleticism, physicality, shot making, and blocking have reached another level. She had a big weekend playing at the 18s USAV Nationals where 1st Alliance 18 Gold finished second in open. She is in the heart of Big Ten country and will be a big target for these programs to chat with come June 15. Her 1st Alliance 16 Gold team won the Salt Lake National Qualifier and will have a full crew of 2026s to watch over the summer live period. They will be playing at the Prep Dig Gauntlet at Milwaukee Sting June 8-9.

Carolyn is an absolute beast of an athlete. She is aggressive at the net, has a lot of experience playing at a high level, and executes consistently. She can terminate at the net and swing over most blockers. Carolyn is going to be an absolutely incredible player and I can only see her continuing to elevate her game. She is a regular at the USAV NTDP and was the only 2026 named 4A 1st Team All-State.
