About Sophie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play intense, with passion, believe in my team and expect to win. I try to make the unexpected plays so my hitters have 1- 0 block. I love defense and my float serve.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have high expectations for myself and work hard to achieve my goals no matter what it takes. I never give up no matter what the score. I am very confident, a Christian, a student/athlete academic scholar and a leader. I encourage my teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

All-A Honor Roll Junior National Honor Society Junior Beta Club

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned how to stay mentally and emotionally strong under pressure and stay positive within myself so I can help support my teammates. My team and I can fight for a comeback because we believe and play with heart. My community service taught me how to be humble, serve and the importance of giving back.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I played “up” for 4 years with my original team and made best friends. This year I am playing my own age. I am learning how to adjust with change, how to make new friends/teammates and going from being the youngest on my old team to becoming a leader on my new team.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want and believe I can play for a D1 college as a Libero who transitioned from setter because of my passing skills and ability to set with hands when out of system. I want to attend one of the Top 25 Ranked Volleyball College Programs. I like the big colleges, but also like the country. I see myself at Nebraska or Kentucky.
