About Sydney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play with aggression but also while being aware of the court and trying to hit the ball where the other team may not be.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am competitive but also very encouraging. I try to play with a goldfish mindset but still know what I need to fix after a mistake. I am also funny and very easygoing.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

No, I am not involved in any out of sport clubs or activities.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I help out a lot for youth camps or to help coach younger boys and girls volleyball. I communicate well with my team and am a leader on the court, I also always try my best to get everyone on and off the court hype.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

During my second year of club volleyball I was on a high-level team that won regionals and more tournaments, but something that challenged me as a player and changed my mindset was my lack of playing time. I never got upset, or complained, or thought I deserved more playing time. I used it as a goal and motivation to get better and realize just because I wasnt playing, doesnt mean I am not enough.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would like to go to a college where I'm valued as a player and will have a impact on the team no matter my role. A goal of mine is to possibly attend a division 2 school, and if that does not happen, I would like to attend a community college/juco/naia and after my 2 years there, transfer out to a bigger school.
