The senior outside hitter led the Mustangs with an excellent performance, playing solid volleyball on both sides of the ball. Porter was Cy Ranch’s main offensive weapon and responded well, consistently scoring points throughout the match. She used her firepower and explosiveness to beat blockers and defenders, but was also excellent in catching them off guard with precise tips and shots, mixing things up very efficiently – she hit at a good rate from the left, the right and the middle back position. Porter was targeted by some Waller serves at the start of the match but handled them well and forced their opponents to change their strategy. She was also very active on the backcourt, playing strong defense and recovering shanked passes and digs.

Porter is one of the cornerstones of her Cypress Ranch team. An outside hitter with excellent technical and physical skills, she is central in everything they do on the court. Porter, who’s also capable of playing on the right, is an elite defensive player, taking a big responsibility in serve-receive and contributing a lot on defense. She’s also among the best at the net, getting off the floor extremely well, showing impressive explosiveness to make contact with the ball and displaying an endless array of options in her swings. Porter is also a strong server, who often gets opponents out of system.

Porter will be starting on the right for her team Houston Skyline 17 Royal in the 17 Open division. She’s a big part of the team’s potent offense and offers a reliable scoring presence on the right. Porter is extremely explosive, gets off the floor very well and is incredibly precise and efficient with her swings. She also had extraordinary ball control, which allows her to play outside hitter for her high school team Cy Ranch and contribute on defense and in serve-receive with Skyline. Another very positive aspect of her game is her fighting mentality, which often influences her teammates on the court.

The Mustangs’ main hitter, Porter showed up when the team needed her and scored in key moments of the match, such as the game-winning point of the tight second set. Her athleticism and arm power were often too much for Bridgeland’s blockers and defenders, but she displayed a well-diversified arsenal and great maturity too, using tips and tooling the block when she wasn’t in a good position to swing hard and avoiding unforced errors. The outside hitter was also very solid on the backcourt, handling well the serves that went her way and making good plays on defense.

It was by no means a memorable performance by Porter, but despite all the difficulties, she still managed to produce at a good rate and be important to her team. It took a while for the outside hitter to get going as she got blocked a few times and made some uncharacteristic errors in the first two sets, but Porter found her rhythm on set three and her offensive production was enough to keep her team in the game and give them some hope before Cinco frustrated them. She was also solid on the backcourt, passing well and getting some touches on defense.

One of the most versatile and explosive hitters in the Houston area, Porter will lead the potent offense of Cy-Ranch. She has posted some ridiculous numbers in her first two years of high school volleyball and, with the graduation of Bianna Muoneke, will be asked to do even more this season. Porter is incredibly athletic, swings tremendously hard and is excellent with her shot selection. Capable of playing on the left or the right, she also passes dimes and plays excellent defense. Another quality of her is her always-positive attitude on the court.
