Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My name is Valerie Rohachenko, I am a 16-year-old DS/L with 10 years of volleyball experience and five seasons of competitive travel play. Volleyball is my passion, and an important part of my identity. It motivates me to get up and have the mindset to grow every day. With a 4.9 GPA, I am looking for a college where I can succeed both academically and athletically and thrive with my team.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
Volleyball is more than just a sport to me! It’s my escape, my anchor, and an important part of who I am. It brings clarity to my mind, body, and soul. It allows me to focus and find peace, no matter what’s happening around me. I train daily to grow both on and off the court. I push myself to improve, stay balanced, and discover my full potential.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I’m an honors student entering my junior year of high school, preparing for both the ACT and SAT while continuing to challenge myself academically. This year, I’ll be joining the DECA program and getting involved in clubs focused on the environment, politics, and global issues. I’ve consistently earned honor roll recognition and am passionate about learning, leadership, and making a impact.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through competitive volleyball, I’ve grown as a leader and teammate, serving as captain on multiple teams and leading warm-ups and communication. The court has taught me to lead by example, stay focused under pressure, and support those around me. I take pride in creating a positive, united team environment.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I’ve faced challenges with favoritism and lack of support from coaches, which at times made me doubt my abilities and question if continuing was worth it. As recruiting begins, it’s been hard to find the confidence to reach out to schools, but I’m learning to trust the process. I’m doing this for the love of the game and the years of hard work not for validation, but for my overall purpose.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college program that values both the mental and physical growth of its players, and fosters a strong, supportive team culture. I want to be part of a motivated, tight-knit community that shares a genuine love for the game and is driven to win together. Most importantly, I’m seeking a program where players are encouraged to grow, feel heard, and are inspired to show up and work.
