To me, Juneteenth is about forgetting the unnecessary pain and labor and celebrating being free.
She reflects on the joy of those who learned they were free and the opportunities that came with being able to build a better future. Zah’Rai’s biggest inspiration is her mother, whose perseverance and selflessness continue to motivate her every day.
No matter how stressed she is, no matter what she’s going through, she has never stopped pushing.
Inspired by her mother’s example, Zah’Rai approaches both volleyball and life with a growth mindset. Her goal is simple but powerful: to become a little better each day through consistent effort, hard work, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
