About Zoila
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I’m a smart shot maker who knows how to read the court and mix up my attacks, using both power and precision to keep defenses guessing. While I play with an aggressive mindset, I also take pride in being a strong all-around player—reliable on offense and defense, whether I’m swinging, passing, or digging. My high energy is constant and I bring that same intensity to every point, every practice.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I bring a focused and determined mentality to the court—every play is a chance to improve, and every challenge pushes me to grow. I’m highly competitive and always striving to outwork yesterday’s version of myself. Off the court, I’m energetic, driven, and passionate about lifting up my teammates, because I believe energy and attitude are just as important as skill.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I’m a member of a club called Pens of Charity, where we work on projects like writing welcome cards for incoming freshmen and making encouraging posters during testing. I enjoy being involved and giving back to my school community, and I’m excited to join more clubs to explore new interests and make an even bigger impact.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through leadership, teamwork, and community service, I’ve strengthened my communication skills, allowing me to clearly guide and support my teammates on the court. I’ve also become highly adaptable, ready to adjust my role and approach to meet the team’s needs in any situation. These qualities help create a strong, connected team that works together to succeed.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Being an undersized player, I’ve often been overlooked despite having the same drive and competitiveness as girls who are 6 feet tall or taller. I’ve learned to rely on my determination, skill, and work ethic to prove that size doesn’t define my ability or passion for the game. My mindset and effort push me to compete just as hard, every single time.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college that not only excels in athletics but also offers strong academic programs. It’s important to me to grow both as a student and an athlete, so I want a school that challenges me intellectually and prepares me for success beyond sports. Finding the right balance between competition and education is key to my future goals.
