‘s mindset is her foundation. She has the ability to move past mistakes quickly, keeping her level steady and bringing confidence to her team. Right now, she is focused on improving her ability to read hitters by slowing the game down mentally and learning patterns, even training with unfamiliar players to sharpen that skill. Her goal this season is to become more consistent defensively while maintaining a strong presence on the court. Coming from a small town with limited volleyball infrastructure and only two years of experience in the sport, her growth curve reflects resilience, adaptability, and hunger to improve.

Zuma competed at the Matt Hartner Memorial Classic in Eugene, where she adjusted to playing outside as an undersized athlete and focused on leading through communication and composure. She was especially effective from the service line, recording multiple aces with her jump float serve while staying calm and organized in serve receive and play execution. Her next focus is becoming louder and clearer on the court, expanding her shot selection, and learning to find holes more consistently from the pins. Off the court, Zuma was recognized as Student of the Month in World Languages for her critical thinking and exceeding expectations, reflecting the same discipline she brings to volleyball.
Zuma will compete next at the CEVA Presidents’ Day tournament on February 14–16.

competes with heart and a short memory…the good kind. She’s trained herself to let go of mistakes and play free, a rare quality in a young defender. Her favorite part of the game is the bond she builds with her team, and it shows in the way she plays every point with purpose. She’s currently locked in on improving her consistency and bringing the same level of intensity and energy to every rep.
Zuma’s 14s season was one big highlight reel, filled with new teammates, long matches, and nonstop growth. Hailing from a small town where volleyball often flies under the radar, she’s bringing next-level goals to every opportunity. Outside of volleyball, she’s a multi-dimensional athlete who loves disc golf and time with friends. Freshman year goals? Earn a varsity spot and bring home her fifth Redwood Writing Contest award. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247
