Premier Rallies for 14 National Title in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Premier 14 Gold was able to serve out some revenge and then taste the thrill of victory in winning the divisional championship in the USAV 14 National tournament today.
After falling in straight sets to KC Power 141 yesterday, Premier 14 Gold bounced back to avenge that loss with a 27-25, 20-25, 15-13 victory in the gold bracket semifinals today to reach the championship match. Premier then rallied for a 20-25, 25-18, 15-12 win over Gainesville 14 Elite for the title.
Premier started play in the gold bracket this morning with a 25-18, 25-21 win over OP2 14 SMACK of Oklahoma. For the tournament, Premier went 9-2.
Ashley and Tadd Martin as well as Kiki Linebaugh coach the team. Members of the team are: Jaiden Centeno, Brenna Green, Bailey Hanus, Jessica Hendrix, Lauren Maciejewski, Carly Renken, Megan Skovsende, Ashley Straub, Bailey Wilson and Hailey Zuroske.
The 14s is the first age group to complete play in the USAV National Championships. In the 14 American division, Premier 14 Black finished 25th out of 48 teams.
In the 16 National division, Premier 16 Gold is still in the title hunt and in the 13 Open division, Premier 13 Gold went 3-0 on the first day of pool play.
