Postseason Recap for Nov 3: Bishop Neumann Rolls to C1-5 Title

OMAHA - Bishop Neumann rolled to a stunning 25-19, 25-14, 25-20 win over cross-town rival Wahoo on Tuesday night to capture the Class C1-5 subdistrict tournament title. With the win, Neumann, ranked #10 in Class C-1, will face unranked Arlington for a trip to the state tournament in the C1-3 district final on Thursday.

While Neumann's win over #9 Wahoo wasn't a major upset in terms of the rankings, the 18-8 Cavaliers controlled the match from start to finish with strong serving and a balanced offensive attack and never gave the Warriors an opportunity to get comfortable in the match.

Wahoo finishes its season at 27-5 as the Warriors are not in contention for one of the two wildcard spots in Class C-1.

The biggest surprise in Class B came in the B-5 championship match where #10 Norris upset #6 Waverly on the Vikings' home court 22-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-6. Both teams, however, advanced to Saturday's sub-state round in Class B. In the ultra-competitive B-3 district featuring four of the top state-title contenders, #2 Omaha Skutt did not drop a set in beating Elkhorn in the semifinals and top-ranked Gretna in the championship.

The victory over Gretna allowed Skutt to avenge its only loss to a Class B opponent on the season.
