Concordia was led offensively by a trio of 2017 All-America selections. Senior Mariya Sampson (Brooklyn Park, MN) surpassed 1,000 kills for her career as she delivered 10 kills on a .455 hitting percentage. Junior Brooklyn Lewis (Kasson , MN) led the Golden Bears with 12 kills and a .476 clip while junior setter Elizabeth Mohr (Eden Prairie, MN) directed a very efficient offense with 37 total assists. Concordia finished the match with a .437 attack percentage. Other offensive standouts included senior Shelby Seurer (Delano, MN), junior Hope Schiller (Anoka, MN), and sophomore Sydney Book (Red Wing, MN). Seurer (8 kills) and Book (6 kills) had no errors between them and hit .667 and .600 respectively. Schiller contributed 9 kills in the win. On the defensive side, Concordia led in service aces (11-4), digs (46-29), and total blocks (5-2). Freshman Tori Hanson (Delano, MN) led the Golden Bears with 14 digs, while Mohr and Schiller each served up four aces.
Top-seeded Concordia (32-3) advanced to the quarterfinals in Pensacola, FL with victories over Central Oklahoma (3-0), Missouri Western State (3-1), and Minnesota Duluth (3-1). The Golden Bears next take on Rockhurst Friday evening. Rockhurst earned a 3-1 victory over Flagler College in their quarterfinal match. With a win, Concordia will advance to the national finals on Saturday where they will be seeking their 9th volleyball championship in school history, their last coming 2016.
