SubscribeWith the club season here several clubs and teams will approach 2018 with sights on the Girls’ Junior National Championships to be held in Detroit, MI (U15, U16, U17) and Anaheim, CA (U18). The GJNC is USA Volleyball’s pinnacle event for junior clubs. In anticipation for the big slate of qualifying events ahead we take a look back at highlights and star players representing Minnesota at the 2017 GJNC. Minnesota teams compete in and represent the North Country Region for USA Volleyball.
First up, the U15s. Several teams competed across five divisions – Open, National, USA, American and Patriot. The following is a list of results for MN-based teams, including links to their club’s website for additional information about them:
15 Open
The Northern Lights 15-1 squad was the only Minnesota team to qualify for the 15 Open division and finished the GJNC in 23rd place overall with a 3-6 record.
15 National
MN Select 15-1 placed 19th following a 4-5 record.
15 USA
With a 1-8 record in the tournament the MN Select 15-2 team finished 31st position
15 American
Three Minnesota teams competed in this division. Northern Lights 15-2 earned the highest finish a 42nd place, followed by Vital 15-1 Gold (47th) and Northern Lights 15-R (57th).
15 Patriot
The 15 Patriot division had several Minnesota teams compete with the highest finish among all U15 teams coming from SWMNVB 15-1 with a 5th place finish overall following an 8-3 record. Other results from 15 Patriot include: M1 151 =(17th), Crossfire MN 15-1 (17th), M1 152 (26th), MN Select 15-2 (37th), Northern Lights 15-B (43rd), Northern Lights 15-W (50th), Club Tonka 15-1 (51st), Club 43 U151 Nat (63rd), and Crossfire MN 15-2 (68th).
Minnesota was well represented at the 2017 GJNC. With another year of experience under their belts look for these athletes and teams to work their way back to USA Volleyball’s premiere event in 2018.
