Maddie Wiedenfeld is a senior at Marian High School. She hit .402 this past year with 200 kills. Here is my interview with Maddie.
What is your favorite social media platform?
“I like Instagram because I enjoy seeing what everyone is doing and it helps you stay connected with people you aren’t as close to anymore.”
What is your favorite sports brand and why?
“I don’t have a specific brand. I like Nike shoes, Under Armor spandex, et cetera.”
What do you love about club volleyball season?
“I love getting to travel and play teams from all around the country.”
What was your favorite part about winning the A State Championship this year?
“My favorite part about winning the Championship was the feeling after the game when we all just got to take a deep breath and realize that we just accomplished what we have been working for since the first day of open gyms in the summer.”
What is some advice you would give to young volleyball players just starting out?
“To never give up and always keep a positive attitude on or off the court. Coaches are always looking at attitudes especially when you are off the court so if you are constantly being a good teammate and lifting others up, it will reward you in the end.”
What are you looking forward to while playing college volleyball?
I am looking forward to playing with new girls and getting to play in a whole different part of the country. I am super excited to go live on the East Coast and continue to do what I love.”
What do you want your college major to be?
“I want to major in either physical therapy or athletic training.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“My favorite off the court activity is hanging out with my friends and little brother, this year has already gone by so fast and with a lot of my friends also going to play college sports it is hitting us now that we only have so much time together, so we are just trying to be with each other as much as possible. That is the same for my brother, I am with him every single day so for me to not be home next year is going to be so hard for the both of us, so we are trying to make as many memories as possible.”
What is your favorite warm up song?
“My go-to warm up song is “Why You Always Hatin?. It has been our teams’ inside joke at Marian since the beginning of my junior year so whenever I listen to it I just think of the team and why it is our song.”
Who is someone you look up to in your life and why?
“Someone I look up to in my life is my mom because she has always been there for me and is always so encouraging. She is my best friend and knows exactly when I am down and how to pick me right back up.”
