There were 26 teams playing in the 18 American division at the January Thaw/18s Qualifier in Omaha this last weekend. All 26 teams went in with hopes to come out on top, but it was Nebraska Elite 182 Envy who got the best of every opponent. Nebraska Elite 182 Envy went 9-0 throughout their path to the 18 American title and only dropped 3 sets during the course of those 9 matches. They beat Northern Lights 18 Black in a thrilling 3 set title match, ending it with a 15-13 score in the 3rd set.
This Nebraska Elite team is now the 2nd team from the Great Plains Region to qualify for the 18s USA Girls Junior National Championships in Anaheim, California. They will be 1 of 64 teams battling for the 18 American national championship April 27th-April 29th at the Anaheim Convention Center. Premier 18 Gold is the other team who will be representing the Great Plains Region in Anaheim so far. Premier 18 Gold earned their spot in Anaheim by getting 2nd in the 18 USA division at the MLK Qualifier in Kansas City a couple weeks ago. That same 18 Gold squad won the 18 USA division in Omaha this last weekend.
The Great Plains Region will for sure have 2 other teams representing them in Anaheim after the Great Plains Region bid tournament on March 11th. Other teams could still qualify at other national qualifiers in the meantime.
