A total of 12 teams competed in the U18 event with seven teams representing Minnesota and the North Country Region. Byron 17-1 finished the highest among Minnesota teams losing a tough championship match by scores of 26-24, 25-20. Three pools of four teams started out the day, competing for seeding into the Gold or Silver brackets. Byron 17-1 went 3-0 in pool play without dropping a set earning a bye into the Gold championship bracket. With a 2-1 semifinal win over Rochester’s Southern Elite Energy 18-1 team, Byron earned their opportunity to play for the title. Southern Elite Energy and Cannon Falls 17-1 both finished tied for third while Falcon Fire 17-1 also represented Minnesota teams in the Gold bracket, finishing tied for fifth in the final standings.
The Silver bracket included three Minnesota teams, led by Rochester Storm 17, which had earned a first-round bye. Waconia JO VB Club 17-1 won their first match 2-0 before falling in a tough semifinal match 2-1 to finish the tournament in ninth place overall along with Rochester after their semifinal loss. Owatanna Youth Volleyball Association (OYVBA) 17 finished tied for 11th place.
Eight total teams competed in the U16 division, with Southside Juniors 16-1 earning a runner-up finish losing a tough 15-11 third set in the championship match. PEM Kaboom 16U was the other Minnesota team to reach the Gold bracket. They finished tied for third in the final standings after a 2-0 semifinal loss. The Silver bracket included Byron 16-1 who prevailed as the bracket champion with back-to-back 2-0 wins. They finished fifth overall, followed by Defenders 15/16 in sixth place and OYVBA 15 Silver tied for seventh overall.
