Round One Recap from NCR President’s Day Tournament

<p>Day one is in the books at the NCR President's Day Tournament in the Twin Cities. Several teams are competing across many divisions for U15-U18 teams. </p> <p><strong>15 Gold</strong></p> <p><strong>Summit 15-Elite</strong> will enter Round 2 as the top team still in contention for the Gold bracket title. They finished their first day with a 3-0 record, all through 2-0 victories. Other top pool seeds heading into Round 2 as part of Group 1 are <strong>Crossfire MN 15-1</strong>, <strong>Kokoro 15-1</strong>, and <strong>KEVC 15-1</strong>. The top two teams from the four Group 1 pools after Sunday morning's action will compete in the afternoon eight-team Gold championship bracket.</p> <p><strong>16 Gold</strong></p> <p>In dominating fashion, <strong>Kokoro 16-1</strong> won all three of their matches with 2-0 set scores. They advance to Round 2 as Group 1's top team. Also advancing atop their Group 1 pools are <strong>KEVC 16-1</strong>, <strong>MN Select 16-3</strong>, and Rapid Spikers 16-1 from Iowa. </p> <p><strong>17 Gold</strong></p> <p><strong>MVA 17-1</strong> handled their Round 1 pool play action with relative ease winning all three matches with 2-0 set scores. They advance to Round 2 as Group 1's top seed. Joining them as top seeds in the other three Group 1 pools are <strong>Kokoro 17-1</strong>, <strong>KEVC 17-1</strong>, and <strong>Vital 17-1 Gold</strong>. <strong>Crossfire 17-1</strong> and <strong>Summit 17 Elite</strong> enter Round 2 with undefeated records also. </p> <p><strong>18 Gold</strong></p> <p>With a 3-0 record following Saturday's schedule, the 18 Gold will be led by <strong>KEVC 18-1</strong> as the top seed in Group 1 when Round 2 begins on Sunday. Joining them as top pool seeds in Group 1 are <strong>Vital 18-1 Gold</strong>, and <strong>Crossfire 18-1</strong>. Other teams finding good success in Round 1 include <strong>Dakota Elite</strong> and <strong>Central Lakes Juniors 18K</strong>, both finishing 3-0 on the day.
