Omaha Club Volleyball Coach Dan Martin Arrested for Sexual Assault of Child
Dan Martin, a long-time volleyball figure in the Omaha area, was arrested last week in Sarpy County on charges of 3rd degree sexual assault of a child.
Martin, commonly known in the volleyball community as “Hammer,” has been playing and coaching volleyball for several years. He has been coaching, playing and also been providing private lessons for volleyball players for many years.
Martin, 50, was arrested by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s office admitted to the Sarpy County facility on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 2. The bond amount was set at $200,000. Martin posted 10% of the bond – $20,000 – and was released the following morning. His court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 21.
According to Linkedin.com, Martin is the owner of Home Improvement, Inc., a handy man service in Elkhorn.
Martin most recently served as club director for Club Legacy in Elkhorn. Earlier today Club Legacy administrator Steph Peterson issued the following statement.
“One of our Club Legacy staff members, Dan Martin, has taken a leave of absence. This leave of absence is not connected with Club Legacy or its players. To ready for the upcoming season, we are adding new staff members, and we will be announcing a new Club Director soon.”
