Claire Vekich MH | Greenway | 2021
Vekich posted 20 kills, 20 digs, and 9 blocks to lead Greenway over visiting Hermantown. Set scores were 25-12, 25-18, 26-28, 25-21. Only a sophomore, Vekich was a 2017 Iron Range all-conference selection and has been a key factor in Greenway’s early 8-1 record. A versatile athlete, Vekich has already verbally committed to play Division I hockey at Bemidji State.

In the night’s biggest match across the state, two of Minnesota’s best teams in
Lakeville South
and Lakeville North squared off with South winning the five-set thriller. Mulvihill pounded 19 kills to lead her team to the 26-28, 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 15-10 victory among two top-ranked teams. The Cougars are now 7-1 overall. Mulvihill will take her talents to Concordia-St. Paul next year.
Coco Duininck S | Central MN Christian School | 2022 and Elli Stoel MH | CMCS | 2020
The duo of Duininck and Stoel led CMCS to a hard fought five-set comeback win over Lac qui Parle Valley 23-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-21, 15-9. Stoel’s arm did a lot of damage as she amassed 22 total kills in addition to five service aces. Duininck, just a freshman, complemented Stoel well with 42 assists on the night to go along with eight digs on the defensive side. Stoel is a 2017 Camden Conference honorable mention selection.
Eva Mark 5’5 S | Springfield | 2020 and Kora Wahl 5’10 RS | Springfield | 2020
Springfield defeated Fulda 3-1 on set scores of 25-27, 25-18, 25-10, 26-24 in a non-conference contest. Mark led the effort with 38 assists, nine digs, and two kills. Wahl was great on offense as she terminated for 16 kills on the match. Springfield is 5-5 on the season.
Rylie McRoberts S | Byron | 2020
In a tough 3-2 loss to Lake City in a Hiawatha Valley Conference match, McRoberts delivered a terrific effort with 45 assists, 14 digs, and 4 aces. Lake City earned the match victory with a 16-14 set five decision.
Skylar Bayer 5’8 OH | Paynesville | 2019 and Abby Schaefer 5’8 OH | Paynesville | 2020
Paynesville held off Dassel-Cokato 3-2 behind the efforts of Bayer and Schaefer, both Central Minnesota all-conference 2nd team selections a year ago. Bayer’s line included 17 kills, eight digs, and three aces. Schaefer added 14 kills, seven digs, and four aces of her own. After a sluggish start and being down 0-2, Paynesville won going away with set scores of 22-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-13, 15-3.
