Continue ReadingMinnesota has gained a reputation of execeptional volleyball, but there was one area our state seemed to be lacking in: boys volleyball. Thanks for Hugh McCutcheon, Walt Weaver and many others, boys high school volleyball is gaining momentum.
Last year, they had approximately 400 high school aged boys competing. The season took place in the spring. The top teams included Osseo, Kasson-Mantorville, Hmong Academy, Shakopee, and Prior Lake. While they are still working to get the sport sanctioned and operated by MHSHL,all involved are hopeful for an even bigger 2019 season.
Much of the activity within boys volleyball has taken place in the metro area, specifically Shakoepee. President and coordinator Jenny Kilkelly is clearly one leading the way. With her help schedules, officials, and guidelines have been put in place to boys volleyball reach beyond the metro area this year.
Registration is open for teams until February. There is an meeting on December 2nd at 6 p.m. at Shakeopee High school. Just check out their helpful website and get in all the excitement this year!
