On Saturday, December 15th, ten of SMV’s teams will be putting a full day’s work at a clinic hosted by Tyler Boddy from Southwest Minnesota State Univ. Tyler is the assistant coach there. He has a list of credentials to add to the already successful college program, including helping them compete at the NCAA tournament several times since he joined the program.
When he comes to Rochester, he will go over drills and technique to help the players of SMV. This is great opportunity for the players to get help, practice, exposure, and fired up for the season. Boddy will brings a new pair of eyes, college level instruction, and experience from years of coaching. Also, it works to ensure all of the coaching staff at SMV are on the same page with coaching styles and technique. They will see new drills and helpful tips for all ages. Coaches will work along side Boddy to prepare their players for the up-coming season. The players benefit from a full day of camp-like instruction and several touches on the ball after having the month of November off.
In the past, George Padjen and his staff from Concordia Univ.-St Paul have held clinics for SMV too. One might think it is hard to get everyone to committ and attend only days before the holiday, but these players are anxious to get and play. This is a great idea for any club that wants to: excite players, educate coaches, and jump start their season.
