Parents, players, coaches, recruiters and fans, we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Hanson. While only an 8th grader, this 5’8” setter is one worth noting. She embodies all of the qualities you could ever want in a female athlete. A future Rochester Mayo Spartan, Hannah was pulled up from 8th grade to the JV/Varsity lineup this past fall. After watching her in warm-ups, it is easy to see why; Hannah is an active, teachable, and well balanced player
Her athleticism sets her apart from players her age. Her tall, strong stature bridges the gap with older players. Hannah has a composure and calmness that is hard to teach. Her natural ability for the sport has helped her develop a confidence that can’t be faked.
Hannah has been working to develop all aspects of her game. Her teammates appear to respect and follow her as a natural leader; Hannah is friendly and positive and easy to admire. With her great hands, fast feet, and speed, she easily chases down the second ball. As a player on Southern Minnesota’s 12-1 and 14-1 teams, she often is used in other positions. When her team needed a middle, Hannah quickly filled in. Not only did she occupy the middle for her team, she tallied several blocks and kills from the middle. She is a hitting and blocking threat with a vertical of 22 inches;making her contact point much higher than her fourteen year old opponents.
Hannah is a gifted, coach-able, young multi-sport athlete that you will want to catch in action this year down in Rochester or up in the cities!
