This series of posts will break down the list into specific groups with focus upon a few athletes that have landed among that portion of the rankings. As many of these athletes are slated to compete for some of the best clubs that Minnesota has to offer, we can bet that their stock will continue to rise. Here are a few athletes from Prep Dig’s class of 2020 rankings rated within 1-25:
Jordan Stalpes – 5’11 | OH | Champlin Park HS | MN Select 17-1
A very capable six-rotation outside hitter that elevated her play late in the high school season to help lead Champlin Park to the Class AAA state title, earning herself all-tournament honors. Good court sense and ability to score through a variety of shots and ball movement.
Sami Hilley – 5’11 | MB | Champlin Park HS | MN Select 18s
A Northwest Suburban all-conference selection, contributed all season long from the middle position in helping the Rebels win the Class AAA state title. Good movement along the net and in transition to make herself available. Has ability to terminate with decent range and power around the block.
Christine Jurgens – 5’11 | S/OH/RS | Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] HS | MN Select 17-1
One of the most versatile athletes in the 2020 class, Jurgens has the ability to effectively contribute from a number of positions. Helped lead Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] to a runner-up finish in the Class AAA state championship. Can distribute the ball and also elevate and terminate. Her skill set makes her one of the most dynamic and exciting uncommitted athletes in this class.
Claudia Stahlke – 6’2 | MB | Mayer Lutheran | Vital
A Minnesota River all-conference selection, plays a pivotal role in Mayer Lutheran’s attack. Perhaps overshadowed by her highly regarded high school teammate, Stahlke can hold her own and shines with her Vital club from the middle. She can hammer the ball and sets huge block that frequently disrupts opposing attackers. Has great upside and will be a huge pick-up for a program at the next level.
