From Washington state, Rubright is outstanding athlete. At West Valley High School she earned varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and tennis. She had many achievements including being an Under Amor All-American and Gatorade Player of the year. One of her most impressive stats is her final hitting percentage of .468. The gophers signed her in early January.
It will be exciting to see how the Gophers helps develop her skills. Coach McCutcheon had this to say about her, “she has unbelievable potential” and is “fast and strong.” I anticipate her tall frame will gain a lot of muscle over the next year, making her even more powerful. On or off the court, it will be impossible to not feel the presence of her tall frame. She is the tallest on the roster along with red shirt freshman Regan Pittman who is also listed as 6’5”.
The team recently took a trip to Japan. They will have their first scrimmage for the spring season this weekend against South Dakota in Fairmont, MN at 2pm (March 30.) Excited to see Rubright in action, or at least in warm-ups, I will be attending this free, promotional scrimmage.
