Prep Dig Minnesota will have to do a little #tbt to some of these articles we have coming out this week come November when its all said and done. These are simple answers, just say “over” or “under” and we’ll go from there.
Over/Under: The number of losses Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] will have this year is 2.5
2.5? This forces the reader to go above 2.5 or under with 0, 1, or 2. Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] will be the favorite to win the Class AAA title. However, they will be without setter Kennedi Orr during the first part of the season while she plays for the USA Youth National Team in Egypt in early September which she did last year as well. The addition of Kendal Kemp has been much talked about, but Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] has a strong and very deep lineup with plenty of ball control. Yes, Orr is the best player in the state, but they will have plenty of other weapons to go to.
Over/Under: Cianna Selbitschka of North Branch will have 100 kills in the postseason alone.
In the state tournament last year, Selbitschka had nearly 90 kills. North Branch will have additional role players who are much improved this upcoming season where they will be a more balanced offense, but Cianna is Cianna, she finds a way to get it done and she is very cool, calm, and collected while doing it. Just by watching you see the sense of trust that her teammates have with her and she is so modest while doing it.
Over/Under: The number of teams returning to the Class AAA tournament will be four.
Here are the eight teams who qualified last year:
Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”]
Forest Lake
Stillwater
Shakopee
Champlin Park
Moorhead
Edina
Eagan ‘ last=”]’ last=”] will be a favorite to come back, as will Lakeville South . Champlin Park has a state tournament caliber team, but so does Wayzata who will be in their sectional. Stillwater returns Maddie Whittington, the Illinois commit who can take over a match at the net. Forest Lake lost plenty to graduation, but has always been a strong program. Who is going to be the surprise team to make it this year?
Over/Under: Four athletes on the floor who are six feet or taller for Mayer Lutheran
The Crusaders are bringing back and really athletic and tall front line led by Seniors, Olivia Tjernagel, Claudia Stahlke, and Anna Wachholz. There is youth coming up in the ranks as well. This will be a really fun team along the way, but Class A will be very strong this year, especially with Kenyon-Wanamingo coming down from Class AA.
Over/Under: The number of state champions to come outside of the metro will be 1.5
I haven’t dug way back into the history books on this one, but in Class AAA, the heavy favorites are always from the greater metro area. However this year in Class AA there could be Stewartville, North Branch (just checking are we considering them metro), but Concordia Academy will be in the mix as well. The talent of volleyball is extending out from the metro area with schools from across the entire state who will be in the mix come November.
