Here is a list of five athletes that are worth a good look this coming weekend at the Side Out Classic:
Molly Bense – 2020 | L/DS | Elk River
A 2018 Northwest Suburban all-conference selection, Bense provides great stability for Elk River at the libero position and from the service line.
Julianna Boyum – 2020 | MH | Kenyon-Wanamingo
A primary offensive weapon for the Knights, Boyum is a well-rounded athlete that can score points with her arm and disrupt opponent offense with her defense. A 2018 Hiawatha Valley all-conference selection, she helped guide KW to a sub-section title and one match shy of the state tournament in 2018.
Emma Kniefel – 2020 | OH | Medford
Kniefel is an athletic multi-sport athlete that helped lead Meford to a runner-up finish in the class A state tournament last year. She will be heavily relied on this season to continue scoring on the pin. She is a 2018 Gopher all-conference selection.
Alexis Simpson – 2020 | OH | Caledonia
At 5’5, Simpson is athletic and effective. She gets off the floor well and contributes at the net on both sides of the ball. She has a nice arm with good speed and displays good blocking instincts and elevation. A 2018 Three Rivers all-conference selection, she and her Caledonia teammates should once again be atop the league this season.
Elle Sprenger – 2020 | DS | Stillwater Area
A 2018 Suburban East all-conference honorable mention selection, Sprenger provided a big defensive spark for the Ponies and their 2018 state tournament appearance.
