Alyx Doughty; Plainview Elgin Millville; 5’10” MH, jr.
- Her team has a new coach and a new plan for improving from their record. A huge part is utilizing Alyx as much as possible. This tall, athletic middle does an excellent job of hitting around her opponent’s block. And when it’s her time at defense she intimidates others with her consistent blocking. She has been known to shut down a teams best player.
Delaney Smith; Windom, 5’11” MH, jr.
- With teammate, Katelyn Nichols- one of the state’s leader in kills, it can be hard to be seen, but Delaney is grinding every day to be one of Windom’s newest stars. Having to practice with and against has helped Smith develop her own blocking skills. She has gotten a better understanding of how to take away the opponents angles. We expect Windom to have another great season and Delaney will be a big part in her supporting role.
Ciarra McNally; Lewiston – Altura; 5’8” OH, sr.
- It looked like it might be a hard year for the Cardinals when junior hitter, Ella Miller, suffered a knee injury, but the rest of the team has worked twice as hard to pick up the slack. Including the coaches daughter, Ciarra. Her play has improved this year: making less errors, improving her serve receive and being the leader of kills. With her help, they are in second place in the Three Rivers Conference right under Caledonia.
Megan Laws; Duluth Marshall, 5’4” DS, sr.
- Laws is helping her team by making incredible defensive plays in every match. Her energy is high and her ready position is low. She does all she can to put her team in a position to try and win. Recently in a close loss against rival Superior, she had 46 digs! Her team lost in 4 hard-fought sets.
Lauren Loegering; Rockford; 5’10” MH, soph.
- Over in the Wright County West Conference, a new star is rising in Lauren. This sophomore is young and has raw athletic talent. Her solid vertical and long reach help put up huge block with teammate and University of Kansas commit, Molly Schultz. She is following in Molly’s footsteps and trying to climb her way up in rank during the club season at MN Select. Look for her to be a huge player in a few years.
