Continue ReadingI had another chance to see this amazing setter, Molly Schultz, this past week. She impressed me again in so many ways. I had seen her before playing in the cities before and each time I catch her on the court I can’t say enough great things about her. I’m not the only one. This 5’7” senior verbally committed to play at Kansas University before her junior year.
Noticeably shorter than the average setter today, Schultz proves its not about height but versatility. She demonstrate her skillfulness as a key player for the the MN Select 17-1 this past season. Here, she played mostly as a defensive specialist. Now, as the leader of the Rockford High School volleyball team, her greatness isn’t limited to just setting. In her last game against Providence, Molly ended the night with 16 kills. They used her explosiveness on the outside and hitting out of the back row. It isn’t uncommon for her to lead her team multiple stats.
Molly has been on varsity since her seventh grade year and her overall skill are unmatched by others in AA (or any class.) According to her profile on MaxPreps, Molly currently has played in more than 300 sets and accumulated the following:
- 1,572 setting assists
- 827 digs
- 49 total blocks
- 213 service aces
- 518 kills
Look for her to add to theses numbers this year as her Rockets try to shake things up. To say she can do it all:serve, play defense, block, set and hit, somehow seems like an injustice. Molly doesn’t just “do it all” she embraces it all and really has become a product of the game. Be sure to catch this star player this year before she heads off to Kansas. And if you can’t, check out her profile on HUDL. This well-recruited seniors highlight tape have been view nearly 1,500 times! I can’t wait to see how Kansas will use Molly.
