Continue ReadingToday nearly all “elite” level teams have some conditioning component built into their club. The game has evolved so much because of the physical abilities of it’s players. Much of that can be attributed to the addition of strength and conditioning coaching within the club scene. This has become an important factor for families when deciding on a club. Here are a few of the best club conditioning programs we’ve found.
N1 Motion: Mizuno M1 Club volleyball has added “performance training” with a company called N1. The company has a handful of accredited therapists, performance coaches and dietitians all helping build the athletes at M1. The partnership aims to ” improve athletes’ performance, reduce injuries and keep our teams performing at the highest level on the court.” The focus on their training include: agility training, strength training using body weight, and more.
Yvonne VanOort: Southern Minnesota Volleyball’s conditioning program is led by Yvonne VanOort from Kasson Mantorville. Originally from Germany, she played at the University of Minnesota and is married to Adam VanOort the head volleyball coach for Kasson Mantorville. She trains the “black” level teams for two hours a week. They are led through a variety of core exercises, power lifts, dynamic stretches specific to the needs of volleyball athletes.
Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ): Vital Volleyball Volleyball Club has SAQ training for their athletes 14 and up twice a week. This is definitely a hype word lately. SAQ exercises include: cone drills, ladders, and shuttle runs etc. It is great to see that they offer the training to the various levels within their club. A Vital Volleyball parent gave her testimonial as to the success of the program, “SAQ training helps build strength and endurance for the athletes.”
Mark Asanovich: Club Tonka Volleyball has been using Asanovich’s approach to strength training since 2012. His methodical and data driven programs (Pro Pumped) ensure the best results for the Tonka athletes. Very well known in the sports world, Mark has trained several professional athletes. He is assisted by William Coonrod and staff.
Irish Competitors Club: The Irish Elite JO volleyball program has a unique point system that encourages athletes to be accountable for their own physical training. In their “competitors club” players earn points by doing various activities/programs. The points earn them club merchandise. The also do in-season team training with Nikki Carrigan Fitness.
