Coming off of an exciting high school season across the state of Minnesota, the depth of talent is true with several athletes still navigating the recruiting process to find the right opportunity at the next level. Here are four uncommitted seniors to keep an eye on as the tournament schedule gets into full swing.

– 5’11 | RS/S | MN Select 18-2
Left-handed, Luehrs can effectively score points from the right pin as she pursues the ball well and creates torque in getting her elbow back through her approach work. She has good court awareness as she has shown ability to terminate with power and finesse by mixing in some offspeed shots. She has great high school experience having competed for one of the best high school programs in the state at Champlin Park. Increasing quickness and balance in the air will make her much more effective given when she brings to the right side already.

A rangy athlete, O’Connell has good six-rotation ability that includes good court awareness and ability to attack from both pins and the back row. She has good length and footwork that help her prepare her approach patterns early so she can capitalize on her high contact point when swinging. Defensively, she covers the court well from the back row in pursuit of the ball while being able to put pressure on attackers at the net with good hand work when blocking. She has good all-around skills.

Rios has a great tool box with all-around skills that could provide good impact at the next level in a number of different ways. She has passing skills that start with good patience as she does not have much wasted movement. This goes for her defensive skills in the back row as well. With her 5’11 frame, she can cover a lot of floor through her ball control and defense. As an attacker, she can bring good heat when she gets her feet to the ball as she has a good bow and arrow at the peak of her jump. She has good arm control as well to exploit open space in the opposing defense.

Segner is a stabilizer in the back row as she plays defense with good patience and vision. Her preparation includes eye work and balance that is simple, which allows her to read and react effectively. She has good platform skills and can pursue the ball with high rates of success whether to the floor, outside her midline, or overhead. An all-conference selection for her high school team, Segner brings with her great competitive experience.
