For the past 29 years, John has been giving his time, energy and passion for the game to Minnesota’s athletes. In fact, he was the only coach from our state recognized this year. Most recently, he has been with Club Tonka, working as a lead coach for the club. He has also spent time at MN Select, Armstrong Jrs., Minnetonka Jrs., and as a high school coach.
He was nominated by one of his peers for his commitment to the volleyball community. This year there were 16 coaches, directors, and administrators from all over the country chosen by JVA for their service. Among them, John had one of the longest terms of service.
His coaching philosophy is, “To teach the athletes that I work with the principles and values in life that I follow and how these values allow you to succeed on the court and in life.” It is likely the values to which he refers to go along with Tonka’s Philosophy Priorities:
- God
- Family
- School
- Club
John Piece is a great example of the great people who devote their time our youth and the sport of volleyball. We are proud to have someone like John, represent the state of Minnesota. Thank you.
