KIVA 11 Red also won gold as pair of teams from the Louisville-based club placed first at the Central Zone Invitational.
KIVA 13 Red continued to win after prevailing in the JVA Rock ‘N Rumble one week earlier. In each early-season event, KIVA 13 has thrived and turned in solid performances.
Pushing for a spot as one of the top teams in the nation in its division, KIVA 13 Red features several experienced players, nearly all of whom are seventh graders. Several of the junior high standouts are already proven leaders before competing on the high school level. The KIVA 13 Red roster includes Abby Larson (MH, Seventh, 6-0, St. Mary), Kristen Simon (DS, Seventh, 5-3, St. Margaret Mary), Brooklyn Borden (OH, Seventh, 5-8, Holy Family), Elise Hart (MH, Seventh, 5-10, St. Margaret Mary), Emilee Fuller (S, Seventh, 5-7, St. Margaret Mary), Trinity Ward (DS, Seventh, 5-5, St. Nicholas), Shelby Davis (DS, Seventh, 5-8, East Oldham), Madisyn Green (OH, Seventh, 5-5, East Oldham), Claire Kuhbander (OH, Sixth, 5-9, Holy Spirit), Emma Barnett (OH, Seventh, 5-8, St. Raphael).
Another talented squad, KIVA 11 Red features the following players: Addison Hurley (Fifth, Norton), Natalie Whitsell (Fifth, Sacred Heart Model), Maddie Ramey (Fourth, Christian Academy), Mary Inez Hart (Fifth, St. Margaret Mary), Allison Newman (Fifth, Holy Trinity), Riley Shellman (Fifth, St. Gabriel), Kaitlyn Wohl (Fifth, St. Patrick), Hannah Hilerich (Fifth, St. Gabriel), Kaylee Clemons (Fifth, St. Paul), Brooke Cody (Fourth, St. Agnes).
KIVA teams are scheduled to compete in various tournaments during the upcoming weekend. Some of the KIVA teams will remain home in Louisville while others will head back to neighboring Indiana or venture south to Tennessee, another bordering state. The slate for KIVA will include a return to the Mideast Power League (MEPL). The MEPL for 13s/14s is scheduled to be held in Louisville for its next stop. The upcoming schedule for the MEPL is as follows: 13/14 – Feb. 1-2 in Louisville; 15/16 – Feb. 1-2 in Muncie, Indiana; 17/18 – Feb. 1-2 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Tradition-rich KIVA features national, regional and developmental teams for various divisions.
Following back-to-back gold-winning performances, KIVA 13 Red will look to carry its newfound momentum into another event during the upcoming weekend.
