Continue ReadingFree is not a word usually associated with club volleyball, but the last few years, MN Northern Lights has been hosting “FREEBIE” events. Yes, you will still need to pay for:
- a admission to the event
- food/lodging
- an event T-shirt
- registration fee
But, your club will get reimbursed after competition is complete. Therefore, the event is seemingly free. It is a great opportunity for smaller clubs to keep player’s fees low. They host a winter and spring freebie, and the number of teams has grown.
There will be six age groups from 18 and under all the way to 13 and under. The largest group is the 14’s. Consisting of a gold and silver division.
You can expect to see some familiar competition with teams representing well established clubs: Kandi Elite , SMV, MN Attack, Irish Elite, NIVB, and more. Noticeably absent from every age group but the 13’s, is the hosting club- Northern Lights.
Here are some exciting match-ups for the top three divisions:
17/18’s: Northern Impact Volleyball Club vs. MN Attack
- Both clubs will have their top 17’s team face off against the other’s top 18’s. The NIVB 17-1’s are the second seeded team in their pool and will put up a good fight against the 18’s.
16’s: Chaska Juniors 16-1 vs. Stewie 16 Blue
- Both clubs are the top ranked in their respective pools. We anticipate a match up between the two in the second round. Stewie will have a slightly tougher competition in pool play.
15’s: This group has the smallest numbers with just two pools (8 teams.) Kandi Elite 15-2’s will be a good “D.” There is one 14’s team- I AM VBC Red; a strong team from Wisconsin.
